What Does an Auto Mechanic Do?

Mechanics diagnose, repair, and maintain automotive vehicles which may include cars, buses, or trucks. A mechanic is willing to get their “hands dirty”, which is necessary for working under the hood and taking apart and assembling auto parts. Auto mechanics are required to stay informed about the newest technologies regarding vehicles in a changing industry and be up to date on recent safety requirements. Places of employment include auto body shops, garages, car dealerships, rental agencies, inspection stations, and driving services.
