What Does an HVAC Worker Do?

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) is a wide field that consists of many different roles and responsibilities related to temperature control. HVAC workers install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Work can range from fixing a leaking pipe to installing solar panels.

Requirements

  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • Complete an accredited HVAC program at a vocational/trade school
  • Refrigerant technicians must be certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
